Governor of Balochistan Emphasizes Financial Transparency and Accountability in Universities

Quetta:Governor of Balochistan, Jaafar Khan Mandokhel, emphasized the importance of financial transparency and accountability in universities to ensure effective governance. He urged universities to prioritize eliminating financial irregularities by implementing both internal and external audit procedures. He further stressed that it is the responsibility of each Vice Chancellor to ensure the timely convening of Senate meetings, Syndicate meetings, and exams, while avoiding unnecessary expenditures. He made it clear that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
These remarks were made by the Governor during his chairmanship of the second Senate meeting of the University of Gwadar at the Governor House, Quetta. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Provincial Secretary of Higher Education Saleh Mohammad Baloch, Vice Chancellor of Gwadar University Professor Dr. Abdul Razak Saber, Vice Chancellor of the University of Balochistan Professor Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Buzai, Principal Secretary to the Governor of Balochistan Hashim Khan Gulzai, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmad, and other Senate members.
During the meeting, Governor Mandokhel praised the participants for presenting new proposals, which he believed would help in developing a strategic plan for the university. He acknowledged that while Vice Chancellors are responsible for overseeing administrative affairs, academic programs, and research activities at public sector universities, the Chancellor plays a vital role in monitoring established policies, providing strategic guidance to the governing body, and leading the university during key events.
Governor Mandokhel also appreciated the progress of Gwadar University in the fields of Blue Economy and Marine Sciences, noting that the university is well-positioned to make advancements in these research areas. He highlighted the importance of fostering cooperation between all public sector universities in Balochistan, particularly in research, to share knowledge and avoid repetition of similar topics.
