Peshawar: The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, has called for the Chief Minister to take a confidence vote amidst growing tensions and concerns over the provincial administration.
In a press conference in Peshawar, Governor Kundi expressed his frustration with the current administration, questioning why ministers and advisors are being replaced and why those deemed corrupt or incompetent are not being punished. He criticized the government for failing to fulfill promises of establishing universities and instead alleged that they are selling them off. Kundi assured that as long as he is in office, such transactions will not occur.
Governor Kundi also highlighted issues with the allocation of funds, accusing the government of misusing resources intended for merged districts and holding cabinet meetings in Islamabad, leading to unnecessary expenditures.
He criticized the Chief Minister for avoiding the provincial assembly, suggesting that the Chief Minister may have lost his majority. Kundi urged the Chief Minister to seek a confidence vote to clarify his standing, warning that a no-confidence motion could be filed or that a formal call for a confidence vote might be made.
Additionally, Kundi accused the ruling party of seeking support from political figures like Maulana Fazlur Rehman and claimed that the Chief Minister is oblivious to the state of law and order in the province.
