Flood Alert Issued for Koh-e-Suleman Area as Flash Flooding Expected

Dera Ghazi Khan:A flood alert has been issued for the Koh-e-Suleman area in Dera Ghazi Khan due to an expected surge in water from the seasonal flood channels. It is anticipated that a flow of 32,000 cubic meters per second will pass through the Sakhi Sarwar flood channel within a few hours. The channel’s total capacity is 32,643 cubic meters per second.

In light of the impending flooding, residents have been advised to move to safer locations. Preemptive relief operations have already commenced to facilitate the evacuation of people.

Irfan Ali Khatia, DG PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority), stated that the district administration, Border Military Police Commandant, and other agencies are on high alert. The process of relocating affected individuals and livestock to safe areas is underway. Efforts to evacuate local populations are ongoing, with all relevant agencies prepared for emergencies. The authorities are maintaining constant communication with local residents to ensure timely relief operations and minimize both human and property losses.
