First Relief Convoy for Kurram District to Depart from Tal Amid Curfew

Islamabad:The first relief convoy for Kurram District will depart from Tal in the morning, as announced by local police. The convoy, consisting of over 80 trucks carrying essential supplies such as medicines, vegetables, flour, and other goods, will be escorted under tight security measures. During the convoy’s passage, a curfew will be imposed on the main highway to ensure smooth transit.

The relief trucks, which have been stationed in Tal for the past three days, were originally scheduled to depart on January 4. However, the convoy was delayed due to the firing incident in Bagan, where the vehicle of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram, Javedullah Masood, came under attack. As a result of the attack, the convoy could not be dispatched as planned.

In response to the security situation, Section 144 has been imposed in Kurram District to maintain order. Additionally, Ashfaq Khan has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Kurram following the injury of Javedullah Masood in the attack.

It is noteworthy that on January 4, unidentified assailants opened fire in the Bagan area of Lower Kurram, injuring DC Kurram and six others. This attack also led to the delay of a vital relief convoy carrying essential food supplies to Kurram, marking a three-month gap in the delivery of these goods to the region.
