Peshawar:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar has registered its first case under the *Torture and Custodial Death Act* and arrested three police officers in connection with the death of a civilian in police custody.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested policemen include **ASI Faheem Khan**, **Head Constable Syed Mohammad**, and **Head Constable Farman Khan**, who were stationed at the **Abu Ha Sawat Police Checkpoint**. The accused police officers had illegally detained a civilian, later identified as **Mohammad Suleman**, and falsely recorded his arrest after filing a case against him.
During the illegal detention, the policemen allegedly tortured Mohammad Suleman, leading to his death. The postmortem report of the deceased has been obtained, confirming the cause of death as torture.
Following the registration of the case, the FIA has taken the accused policemen into physical remand for further investigation. Authorities have vowed to ensure justice in the case, and the investigation into the matter is now underway.
This case marks a significant development in Pakistan’s fight against custodial abuse and torture, signaling a stronger stance by the FIA on holding law enforcement accountable for unlawful actions.
