Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar Says PTI’s Protest Aims to Incite Disorder, No Permission for Rally in Islamabad
IslamabadضFederal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest is aimed at creating chaos in the country, and the government will not allow any demonstrations in Islamabad. He warned that any violation of this directive would result in arrests and legal action.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Tarar pointed out that the Islamabad High Court had issued orders prohibiting any rallies or processions in the city, adding that anyone attempting to organize such events would be acting illegally. “Today, the Islamabad High Court has issued clear instructions against holding any processions or rallies, and if anyone attempts to organize one, it will be considered unlawful,” he said.
The minister also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, alleging that it uses government resources to support PTI’s protests. “If government officials or personnel from KP participate in the protest this time, strict action will be taken against them,” Tarar warned. He called it “incomprehensible” for one province to wage what he termed a “military campaign” against the federal government and said that they would not allow the misuse of public resources for such activities.
Tarar further highlighted the international implications of the protest, stating that Belarus’s President and a large delegation are scheduled to visit Pakistan on November 24, making it impossible for the government to allow any protests at such a critical time.
This comes as PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, has called for a major protest in Islamabad on November 24. Preparations for the demonstration are already in full swing. Despite the government’s objections, Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, reaffirmed in a video message that the protest will take place, urging the public to ensure their full participation.
