DG GDA Shafqat Anwar Shahwani Visits Gwadar Press Club, Assures Full Support for Media and Development Projects

Gwadar:The Director General of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Shafqat Anwar Shahwani, visited the Gwadar Press Club, where he was warmly received by the club’s President Ismail Omar, cabinet members, and other journalists. During the visit, DG GDA praised the significant role of the media in the development and progress of any society.

He acknowledged the crucial contribution of Gwadar Press Club in the region’s development and assured that GDA would provide full support for the club’s building, professional training for journalists, and other necessary needs. DG Shahwani emphasized that the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan is progressing smoothly, with the current phase (2025-2035) underway after successful completion of the majority of projects in the first phase (2019-2025). The ongoing projects include several key economic and tourism-related initiatives that are poised to transform Gwadar into a major global economic hub.

Despite the challenges, he reiterated GDA’s commitment to the region’s development, stating that the completion of these projects will open new doors of progress for the area. He also highlighted GDA’s special focus on the restoration of Old Town, a project aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents. This initiative involves upgrading educational institutions, health facilities, sewage systems, drainage, sports fields, cemeteries, and the preservation of ancient cultural heritage.

Shafqat Anwar Shahwani further mentioned that several projects in Old Town had already been completed in recent years, with millions of rupees invested. These projects, being carried out with the cooperation of both federal and provincial governments, ensure high standards and sustainability.

During the meeting, senior members of the Press Club expressed their appreciation for GDA’s efforts and acknowledged the significant progress being made in Gwadar, particularly in sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, water, fishing, and sports. The Press Club’s officials assured their continued cooperation with GDA and emphasized that while constructive criticism would be offered where necessary, the positive developments would also be communicated to the public.

This meeting reflected the strong shared commitment of the media and GDA towards the development and progress of Gwadar.
