Controversial On-Screen Kiss Lands Aishwarya Rai in Legal Trouble
Mumbai: Bollywood has increasingly embraced bold scenes, including intimate moments like on-screen kisses, much like Hollywood. However, such scenes often lead to not just criticism but also legal challenges for the actors involved.
One of the most notable incidents occurred with Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, wife of actor Abhishek Bachchan, who faced legal action after filming a controversial kissing scene with Hrithik Roshan in the 2006 film Dhoom 2. The brief two-second scene sparked a massive uproar across India, with some viewers expressing their disapproval and even sending legal notices against the actress.
Aishwarya, in her response, expressed surprise at the backlash, saying, “I am just an actress doing my job, but I had to explain myself over a two-second scene in a three-hour film.”
The controversy surrounding Dhoom 2 was particularly intense, even though Aishwarya later appeared in films like Shabd and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also featured bold scenes. Nevertheless, the Dhoom 2 kiss remained one of the most talked-about and contentious moments of her career.
Currently, Aishwarya is again in the spotlight due to rumors surrounding her personal life, particularly speculations about her separation from her husband, Abhishek Bachchan. However, Abhishek has publicly denied the divorce rumors, while Aishwarya has remained silent on the matter.
