Chief Minister of Balochistan Reviews Progress of Public Sector Development Projects

Quetta:A key meeting was held under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sardar Sardar Baloch in the Chief Minister Secretariat on Tuesday, where the progress of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) was reviewed. The meeting focused on the ongoing development projects across the province, discussing both their pace and quality.
The session was attended by provincial ministers Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umarani, Mir Shuaib Nosherwani, and Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki, as well as Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Planning & Development Hafiz Abdul Basit, and secretaries of various departments.
During the meeting, the Planning and Development Department briefed the participants on the physical and financial progress of ongoing and new development projects for the current financial year. Chief Minister Mir Sardar Sardar Baloch expressed strong dissatisfaction with the slow pace and irresponsibility in certain departments, emphasizing that delays in public development projects undermine public trust, and such delays would not be tolerated.
He asserted that improving the lives of common citizens through development was a key commitment of his government, and slow-moving projects would not be accepted. The Chief Minister further remarked that it was surprising that some departments had failed to spend even a single penny on their allocated budgets over the past nine months. He stressed that timely completion of public welfare projects was the government’s top priority.
The Chief Minister directed all officials to ensure the implementation of the government’s vision and fulfill their duties related to public welfare with complete responsibility. He also announced that he would personally write the Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) of all officers, taking into account their performance. He clarified that there would be no compromise on public interests, and all projects would be completed within the set timelines without any excuses.
Mir Sardar Baloch emphasized that, for the first time in Balochistan’s history, 80% of approved schemes had been included in the budget, and the government was determined to use the province’s resources for the welfare of the people. He called for greater public awareness of the government’s projects, ensuring that the beneficiaries’ feedback is gathered so that the public remains informed about government initiatives.
The Chief Minister stressed that raising awareness of development projects would help eliminate the negative propaganda regarding unbalanced development in Balochistan. He instructed officials to implement public welfare projects effectively and maintain continuous engagement with the people.
In conclusion, Mir Sardar Baloch reaffirmed his commitment to utilizing Balochistan’s resources for the welfare of its citizens and emphasized that there would be no leniency in adhering to the quality and timeline standards for development projects. He urged officials to demonstrate their capabilities for public service, asserting that now was the time to showcase their skills for the benefit of the people.
