Chicken Prices Surge Across Pakistan

Lahore: Prices of chicken meat continue to rise nationwide, marking an ongoing trend of increases. In Faisalabad, after a Rs. 22 per kilogram hike within 24 hours, the official price of chicken has reached Rs. 552 per kilogram. Over the past week, the price of chicken has seen an alarming increase of Rs. 98 per kilogram.
In Lahore, broiler chicken has become more expensive, now priced at Rs. 541 per kilogram, reflecting a Rs. 22 per kilogram increase. Additionally, farm eggs have risen by Rs. 1 to reach Rs. 253 per dozen.
On the other hand, according to market reports, tomato prices have been fixed at Rs. 160 per kilogram after a Rs. 15 increase, although they are being sold in the market at Rs. 180 per kilogram. Similarly, the price of potatoes has surged by Rs. 4 to Rs. 83 per kilogram, with market rates reaching Rs. 100 per kilogram.
These escalating prices of essential food items are posing economic challenges for consumers nationwide, raising concerns about affordability and inflation. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation amidst growing public apprehension.
