Chaudhry Monis Elahi Declared Absconder in Double Murder Case by Local Court
ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister, Chaudhry Monis Elahi, has been declared an absconder by a local court in connection with a double murder case.
On Tuesday, Additional Session Judge, Mian Javed Akram, issued a ruling in the case of the murders of Yasir and Muhammad Yusuf, who were killed on June 28, 2023, in Chakriyan. In his decision, the judge named Monis Elahi and others as accused in the case.
According to media reports, during the court proceedings, the police revealed that one of the co-accused, Muhammad Akhtar, died in jail. Monis Elahi has been accused under Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code for allegedly abetting the crime, based on the confessions made by other accused individuals.
The court’s decision, consisting of 19 pages, pertains to an FIR registered on June 29, 2023, at the Mangowal Police Station. According to the police, Monis Elahi and the other accused are charged with the murder of two individuals, Yasir and Yusuf, who were shot and killed on June 28, 2023.
It is worth noting that earlier this week, the Lahore Special Court Central summoned the wife of PTI leader Monis Elahi in connection with a money laundering case. The lawyer for Elahi’s wife requested an exemption from permanent attendance in the case for women named in the proceedings. The court, however, stated that the women should attend a few hearings first, after which their request for exemption could be considered.
