Canada Responds Strongly to US Tariffs Imposed on Its Goods

The Canadian government has expressed strong disapproval following the imposition of tariffs by the United States on its goods. According to foreign media reports, the tariff dispute between the two countries has escalated, with both nations now imposing heavy tariffs on each other’s imports.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would retaliate by imposing a 25% tariff on US goods. He stated that Canada knows how to defend itself and will stand firm with its people in any situation. Trudeau also mentioned that Canada and Mexico are working together to counter the US tariffs and urged the public to buy local goods and spend their holidays within the country.
It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump signed a presidential decree on the previous day, imposing new tariffs on major trading partners such as China, Canada, and Mexico, effective from Tuesday. A 25% tariff was imposed on goods exported from Canada to the US, while Canadian oil was taxed at 10%. Similarly, a 25% tax was applied to goods from Mexico, and a 10% tariff was imposed on goods shipped from China to the US.
The United States has made it clear that it is prepared to respond if any of the three countries retaliate in response to the tariffs. US media has likened Trump’s actions to the beginning of a new trade war.
