Broken Chairs in Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium Spark Debate on Social Media

Following the England vs Afghanistan match, images of broken chairs in the VIP gallery of Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium have been circulating on social media. The photos have sparked a wave of reactions, with users commenting on the quality of the chairs and some even blaming the public for the damage.

One user pointed out that the PCB Chairman had claimed these chairs would last 20 years, but now it seems they were made from low-quality, local materials from China. Another user, Sohail Imran, praised the efforts of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in upgrading the stadium for the Champions Trophy, but criticized the behavior of educated cricket fans who, despite purchasing expensive tickets, damaged the seats by placing their feet on them. He lamented that fans were disrespectful to the infrastructure and failed to protect it.

Zubair Yusuf also commented on the poor quality of the chairs, while Arshad Chaudhry expressed disappointment that millions of rupees had been spent on these chairs, which broke in the very first match. Qadir Khawaja remarked that although the Chairman had worked hard to provide a beautiful stadium, the behavior of some educated people still left much to be desired.

It is worth noting that Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore installed 35,000 new white and green chairs across all enclosures for cricket fans, with VIP and Chairman’s boxes also being specially prepared. The controversy over the damaged chairs has raised questions about both the chair quality and the responsibility of fans in maintaining the stadium’s infrastructure.
