Mumbai:Bollywood’s once-renowned actress Mamta Kulkarni has returned to India after a 25-year hiatus, sparking speculation about the reasons behind her long absence and what brought her back to the country.
In her first media interaction after her return, the 52-year-old actress clarified that she is not returning to Bollywood and has no intentions of making a comeback to the screen as an actress. Kulkarni shared that she had briefly visited India in the past, traveling from Dubai to Allahabad for just 10 days before returning abroad.
Mamta Kulkarni, who had been embroiled in a drugs case, which was dismissed by a Mumbai court due to lack of evidence, also reflected on her emotional journey back to her homeland. In a heartfelt video message, she said, “I left India in 2000, and today, as I return, I am feeling very emotional. I don’t know how to express it. When my flight entered Indian airspace, I was looking out of the window, and seeing my country after 24 years brought tears to my eyes.”
Kulkarni further added, “I am happy with my life. When I left India, I was at the peak of my film career. I had offers to work in 43 films, but I left it all behind. I have no desire to return to films now.”
Mamta Kulkarni gained fame in the 1990s for her roles in successful films like *Karan Arjun* and *Baazi*, and she worked alongside Bollywood superstars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. However, in the early 2000s, she withdrew from the film industry and moved abroad, leaving fans wondering about the reasons behind her sudden exit.
Her return to India after decades has rekindled curiosity, but it is clear that Mamta Kulkarni has chosen a different path in life, far removed from the glitz and glamour of Bollywood.
