Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticized the judiciary and the federal and provincial governments during a recent session of the National Assembly. He condemned the judiciary for interfering in political decisions, claiming that recent rulings have lacked constitutional basis and that parliamentary seats were allocated unfairly.
Addressing the Assembly, Bhutto Zardari remarked on the “discrepancies between institutions” and asserted that no judiciary in the world can rival Pakistan’s. He noted that the recent controversy in Bangladesh, where a court reinstated a controversial quota system after protests, should serve as a lesson for prioritizing public issues.
He also praised Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem, who won a gold medal at the Olympics, and urged support for athletes to potentially win future World Cups. Bhutto Zardari emphasized that with proper support, Pakistani youth could achieve significant success, drawing inspiration from Nadeem’s achievements.
Furthermore, Bhutto Zardari criticized both federal and provincial governments for failing to support athletes adequately and called for the allocation of funds to foster sports. He highlighted the potential of Pakistani youth and criticized the political environment in Islamabad for its failure to address national issues effectively.
In his speech, Bhutto Zardari also addressed internal political divisions and the lack of consensus among lawmakers. He expressed frustration over the ongoing political infighting and urged for a focus on resolving public issues rather than engaging in personal attacks.
The session saw disruptions from PTI members, prompting Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to call for order. Bhutto Zardari reiterated his points about judicial interference and the need for a more effective and supportive approach to addressing national concerns.
