Big Relief for Users: WhatsApp Announces New Reverse Image Search Feature
Islamabad: The popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has announced that it is working on a new reverse image search feature, which is currently being tested with a limited number of users.
This feature will allow users to directly upload any image to Google from within the app to verify its authenticity. It is particularly aimed at improving the detection of fake or misleading content, enabling users to assess the truthfulness of shared images and gather more information.
Previously, there were reports that WhatsApp had begun testing a feature to scan documents and images for users’ convenience. Following that, the app has now started testing the “Image Reverse Search” feature as well, with select users being granted access to it.
According to information from WhatsApp updates website, WABetaInfo, this new feature will allow users to easily find images using the Google reverse image search tool. When a user clicks on a specific image, the web version will automatically open on either a mobile or desktop device, showing similar images and related posts from across the web.
The goal of this feature is to allow users to conduct research on images received, helping them to gather more insights. By clicking on the image within the WhatsApp chat box, users can search for it directly on the web version without leaving the app.
