Balochistan’s Youth Scholarship Program Faces Criticism, Legal Action Taken

Quetta:Under the “Aghaz-e-Huqooq Balochistan Package,” scholarships were awarded to several young individuals from Balochistan, both for domestic and international studies, with the aim of addressing the sense of deprivation in the region. However, many young applicants are expressing disappointment with the project, and some have even filed a case in the Balochistan High Court.
In response to inquiries about the program, the Project Director, Dara Shukoh, was contacted for clarification on several points. These included the number of scholarships awarded, the districts from which the beneficiaries belong, the verification of their local and domicile certificates, the reasons behind the cancellation of some scholarships, and the expected end date of the project.
However, the Project Director responded by stating that he is not obligated to answer these questions and that any information about the package could only be obtained from the Chairman of the EEC. He further mentioned that his team handles legal matters and applicants can submit online requests, but responses will be provided at their discretion. He also added that the project operates under a centralized system and that they cannot provide information in the manner being requested.
The lack of transparency and communication has led to frustration among the scholarship applicants, and the legal proceedings in the court reflect growing concerns over the management of this important initiative.
