Balochistan Chief Minister Condemns Targeting of Children by Terrorists, Affirms Commitment to Education and Development

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed deep sorrow over the recent attack on innocent children, stating that terrorists view them as “soft targets.” Despite this tragic incident, he emphasized that the resolve to combat terrorism remains unshaken. He asserted that such cowardly acts will not deter efforts to keep educational institutions thriving.
During a ceremony at the Government Girls Postgraduate Degree College in Quetta, where laptops were distributed to students, Bugti announced the establishment of a high-tech lab at the college, the provision of 50 pink scooters for female students, and additional laptops based on merit. He underscored the government’s commitment to empowering Balochistan’s girls with confidence and educational opportunities.
Bugti highlighted that, despite challenges, the provincial government is focused on educational advancement, launching the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program to support students from matriculation to PhD level. This program includes special quotas for civilian martyrs and minorities.
He also addressed the issue of corruption, asserting that the government is determined to eradicate bribery and restore public trust in state institutions. He expressed hope for a future where female leadership will thrive in Balochistan, reflecting confidence in the abilities of women in governance.
Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani praised Bugti’s efforts in educational reform and development initiatives. The ceremony concluded with laptops being awarded to high-achieving students and recognition given to former college head Raheela Ramadan for her long-standing contributions to education.
The Chief Minister’s remarks resonated with the audience, encouraging students to reject terrorism and strive for a brighter future, further reinforcing the message that education is key to overcoming adversity in Balochistan.
