Quetta:Pakistan – The Balochistan Bar Council, in a strongly worded statement, has criticized the obstruction of peaceful demonstrations organized by the Baloch Unity Committee in Quetta. The statement underscores that every citizen has the democratic right to peaceful assembly and expression, as guaranteed by the constitution of Pakistan.
Expressing grave concern over the current state of affairs, the statement called for an immediate halt to the series of blockades intended to disrupt public gatherings in various cities across Balochistan. It highlighted that the province is grappling with critical socio-economic issues, exacerbated by a breakdown in constitutional governance and a deteriorating law and order situation.
“The recent mismanagement by federal and provincial authorities has led to rising inflation, deteriorating security conditions, frequent power outages, and unwarranted arrests of political activists,” the statement read. It further criticized the incumbent authorities for their failure to address the legitimate concerns of the populace.
The statement emphasized that the Bar Council has consistently advocated for upholding constitutional supremacy and human rights within the country. It squarely blamed the current wave of public discontent on the mishandling and misuse of state resources by incompetent officials.
Calling for immediate remedial action, the statement demanded that authorities refrain from erecting barriers to participation in meetings of the Baloch Unity Committee and cease the unwarranted arrests of political workers. It reiterated the right of citizens to peaceful protest without undue interference.
The situation in Balochistan remains tense as citizens continue to voice their grievances against what they perceive as unconstitutional measures by the government. The coming days are crucial as stakeholders seek to de-escalate tensions and restore normalcy in the province’s capital.
The Balochistan Bar Council’s statement reflects growing frustration among the public and legal fraternity, urging authorities to prioritize dialogue and constitutional governance in addressing the prevailing challenges.
