Actor Shuja Asad Opens Up About His Role in ‘Tan Man Neel o Neel’ and Tackling Taboo Topics

Shuja Asad, who played the central role of Sona in the drama series *Tan Man Neel o Neel*, shared his thoughts on his character and the important messages conveyed through the show. He revealed that he was never afraid of the message his character was portraying, despite knowing that the conclusion of the drama would be emotionally impactful for the audience.

Shuja Asad explained that the drama aimed to highlight the struggles and emotions of the three main characters – Sona, Rabi, and Moon. Through their stories, the show sought to make viewers understand that people who face such challenges in real life are just like everyone else, and they, too, have loved ones. He added, “Who knows, they might have been innocent too? Who knows, they might have had dreams as well?”

He recalled a particularly tense moment while shooting a scene where a crowd attacks the characters. Shuja described the environment on set as quite stressful. He shared that initially, Ali Ammar (Moon) and Sahar (Rabi) had their scenes, and when Sahar returned after shooting her scene, she was trembling with injuries, with blood oozing from her wounds. Shortly after, Ali also returned with injuries, which made everyone on set even more cautious.

Shuja revealed that there were kitestrings in the streets where they were shooting, adding to the danger. When it was his turn to shoot, he decided to walk calmly to avoid getting hurt by any stray string or obstacle, which thankfully spared him from injury.

The actor also touched upon a sensitive and rarely discussed topic in the drama industry: male rape. He highlighted how it is still a taboo subject that people are hesitant to talk about, with actors often feeling uncomfortable or ashamed to portray such characters. Shuja praised his co-star Ali Ammar for successfully playing this difficult role, acknowledging that Ali deserved credit for bringing such a complex character to life in *Tan Man Neel o Neel*.

Shuja Asad’s openness about the challenges of portraying sensitive issues in the show and his appreciation for his colleagues’ performances reflect the depth and importance of the message behind the drama.
