“I Miss Pakistan So Much, I Wish I Could Fly There”: Veteran Actress Shabnam

Lahore: Evergreen actress Shabnam, who ruled Pakistan’s film industry for decades, has expressed her deep affection for Pakistan, saying she misses the country greatly and wishes she could fly there.

The legendary actress recently celebrated her 80th birthday, receiving congratulatory messages from fans and admirers from around the world.

Speaking from Dhaka, Shabnam said she had received immense love from Pakistan and its people.

“I received so much love from Pakistan. What greater love could I have received than fans naming their daughters after me?” she said.

Shabnam recalled her long and successful career in Pakistani cinema, saying she had worked as a leading actress opposite almost all the popular heroes of her era.

She said she appeared in the largest number of films with legendary actor Nadeem, with their on-screen pairing becoming one of the most successful and memorable duos in Pakistani cinema.

Responding to a question about Pakistan, Shabnam said, “I miss Pakistan very much. My heart wants to fly to Pakistan.”

Shabnam has appeared in around 160 films, including Urdu, Bengali and Punjabi productions. Her celebrated pairing with Nadeem produced numerous superhit films and continues to be remembered fondly by fans of Pakistani cinema.

The veteran actress remains one of the most beloved figures of Pakistan’s golden era of filmmaking.
