Former Actress Sarah Chaudhry’s Remarks on Divorce After Choosing a Religious Life Go Viral

KARACHI: Former Pakistani television actress Sarah Chaudhry has spoken publicly about her divorce and personal life for the first time in years, addressing widespread questions about her separation despite leaving the entertainment industry and embracing a religious lifestyle.
Appearing on a recent podcast, Sarah Chaudhry discussed her journey after stepping away from showbiz and responded to questions about why her marriage ended despite making major life changes and dedicating herself to religious pursuits.
Addressing a commonly raised question, she said many people wonder why she faced divorce after making significant sacrifices, including leaving the entertainment industry. However, she emphasized that such matters are ultimately part of God’s plan and should not be viewed as a reflection of a person’s faith.
Sarah noted that while divorce is considered a disliked act in Islam, it remains a reality that cannot be completely eliminated from society. She added that being religious does not guarantee a life free from challenges, marital difficulties, or separation.
She further explained that Islam encourages reconciliation and preserving relationships, but it is incorrect to assume that religious individuals are immune to personal hardships. According to her, some events are part of destiny, and every relationship contains both strengths and weaknesses.
The former actress revealed that she made every possible effort to save her marriage. However, when both parties realized that continuing the relationship was no longer feasible, they mutually agreed to separate.
When asked whether she regretted any of her decisions, Sarah said that after embracing a faith-centered life, she no longer dwells on regrets. She explained that her belief is that whatever happens by the will of God ultimately serves a greater purpose, making thoughts such as “if only things had happened differently” less meaningful.
Sarah Chaudhry entered Pakistan’s entertainment industry in 2002 and gained recognition through the PTV drama serial Chaukhat. She later appeared in several popular productions, including Bahlawa, Tere Pehlu Mein, Teri Aik Nazar, Din Dhale, Chahat, Malangi, and Tum Kahan Hum Kahan.
In 2010, she left showbiz and dedicated herself to religious work and preaching. She married around 15 years ago into a Pashtun family and is the mother of five children.
Her recent comments have attracted significant attention on social media, where users have been discussing her perspective on faith, destiny, and personal challenges following divorce.
