Iran’s Parliament Speaker Says Trump Recognized “Axis of Resistance” Through Islamabad Understanding

TEHRAN:Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump effectively recognized the “Axis of Resistance” by signing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Qalibaf said Trump had insisted that Iran put its missile and nuclear programs, the resistance and the Strait of Hormuz aside. However, he claimed that by signing the agreement, Trump effectively acknowledged the resistance front in Persian.
According to Qalibaf, the negotiations resulted in the United States lifting its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz that same night. He described negotiations with the United States as a form of “offensive diplomacy.”
Qalibaf said Trump had written that Iran would also open the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that he instructed the Iranian negotiators to demand that Trump withdraw the statement concerning Iran.
“I told the negotiators that if Trump did not withdraw the statement, Iran would attack,” Qalibaf claimed.
He further said that **58 minutes later**, Trump removed the second part of his statement from social media.
Qalibaf also recalled tensions with Israel, saying that when Israel attacked the Dahiyeh area in Lebanon, he had warned of retaliatory action. He claimed that Israel refrained from launching another attack after being warned that the entire region could be targeted.
