Justice Aalia Neelum Becomes First LHC Chief Justice to Fill 23 Vacant Judges’ Posts

LAHORE: Ten newly appointed judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC) have taken oath of office, with Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Aalia Neelum administering the oath.
The newly sworn-in judges include Justice Syed Farhad Ali Shah, Justice Amjad Parvez, Justice Asad Ali Bajwa, Justice Ghulam Sarwar Nahng, Justice Shireen Imran, Justice Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema, Justice Manwar Dogar, Justice Amir Ajjam Malik, Justice Khalid Ibn Aziz and Justice Ajmal Khan.
During the tenure of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, appointments have been made against a significant number of the 23 vacant judges’ positions at the Lahore High Court. Following the latest appointments, she is being described as the first chief justice to fill the largest number of vacant judicial posts at the LHC.
The development is being viewed as a significant step toward strengthening the strength of the Lahore High Court and addressing the shortage of judges.
The appointments of the new judges were approved during a meeting of the Judicial Commission held on July 21 under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
