NEPRA Amends 2026 Solar Regulations, Eases Approval Process for Small Consumers
Islamabad: Consumers installing solar power systems of up to 25 kilowatts (kW) will no longer be required to obtain prior approval from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), following an amendment to the Solar Regulations 2026.
According to an official notification issued by NEPRA, the revised regulations exempt solar consumers with systems of up to 25 kW from seeking direct regulatory approval.
The notification states that the relevant electricity distribution company (DISCO) will now have the authority to grant approvals directly, simplifying the process for eligible consumers.
The amendment is expected to make it easier for small-scale solar users to complete installation and grid-connection procedures by reducing regulatory requirements.
