Iranian President Pezeshkian Rejects Resignation Rumors, Vows to Remain in Office
TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has dismissed reports suggesting he intends to resign, declaring that he will remain in office and continue leading the country during the current challenges.
According to Iranian media, President Pezeshkian said, “I will not resign, and I will stand firm,” adding that he remains in constant coordination with Iran’s armed forces and is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
The president emphasized that Iran is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests. However, he stressed that Tehran does not seek to expand regional tensions or widen the scope of conflict.
“Peace and stability remain Iran’s priority, but there will be no compromise on national security,” he said, adding that the country must strengthen national unity and internal stability to prevent foreign interference and attempts to create division.
Iranian media reported that the full text and video of President Pezeshkian’s address, outlining the government’s strategy and national security policy, will be released in the near future.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump recently claimed that talks between the United States and Iran were underway. Tehran, however, rejected the claim, stating that no new negotiations or dialogue with Washington had been agreed upon.
Iranian officials reiterated that, under the current circumstances, there are no plans for negotiations with the United States and that all foreign policy decisions will continue to be guided by Iran’s national interests, sovereignty, and security priorities.
