Karachi Expands Probe Committee into Mysterious Death of Mir Raza Ali

Karachi: Authorities have expanded the investigation committee probing the mysterious death of Mir Raza Ali after his body was found in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. A notification has been issued adding another official to strengthen the inquiry.

According to the notification, Assistant Chief of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), Kashif Iftikhar, has been included in the investigation team to provide technical assistance.

The committee, previously formed by the Additional IG Karachi, is headed by SSP SIU Samiullah Somro and also includes SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SSP Investigation Usman Sadozai.

Investigators said the probe is ongoing, and 12 individuals have so far been questioned. Officials have also obtained another CCTV recording showing two suspicious motorcyclists arriving at the crime scene, remaining there for about 20 seconds, and then leaving.

Police are examining Mir Raza Ali’s recent contacts and have compiled a list of people he was in touch with, as well as individuals to whom he allegedly owed money.

Karachi Police Chief said the investigation committee is examining the case from every possible angle and expressed confidence that those responsible would be arrested soon.

Background

Mir Raza Ali Khan went missing from Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS) on July 28. His body was discovered two days later in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

According to police, he left his home at 4:09 a.m. in an online taxi. His body was later found with a gunshot wound to the chest, and officials described its condition as severely deteriorated. Police also revealed that all of his social media accounts had been deactivated a day before his body was recovered.

Investigators have sought the victim’s phone records and communication data from the telecom company. The driver of the ride-hailing vehicle used by Mir Raza Ali has also been questioned. The driver told police that he had dropped the victim at his kitchen facility in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

The victim’s father said that Mir Raza Ali was due to be married on August 30 at Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and was looking forward to beginning a new chapter of his life.
