Rescue Operation Ends After Quetta Coal Mine Blast, All Bodies Recovered

Quetta: Rescue teams have completed the operation at the coal mine in Quetta’s Sorenge coalfield following the tragic mine explosion, recovering all the miners who had been trapped underground.

The rescue operation, which lasted nearly 45 hours, concluded after teams recovered the bodies of the remaining two miners. Following the completion of legal formalities, the bodies were sent to their hometowns in Shangla.

According to officials, the disaster claimed the lives of 34 miners, including four members of the same family, three of whom were brothers.

After the rescue operation was completed, authorities sealed the mine. The bodies of all the victims were dispatched to their native areas, with 31 of the deceased belonging to Shangla district and three to Swabi district.

Officials from the Mines Department said an inquiry committee established to determine the cause of the explosion is expected to submit its report soon.

The tragedy has left several families in mourning. Relatives of the victims have urged the government to implement stronger safety measures in coal mines on a priority basis to prevent similar incidents and better protect miners in the future.
