PkMAP Expresses Grief Over Deadly Coal Mine Collapse, Demands Inquiry and Better Safety Measures

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly coal mine collapse in the Hanna Spin Karez area of Quetta, stating that 34 miners lost their lives due to the collapse and the alleged lack of adequate safety measures.

In a statement issued by the party’s central secretariat, PkMAP extended its condolences to the bereaved families and said it stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.

The party stated that although the government collects billions of rupees in royalties from mine owners, mining areas remain deprived of basic facilities. It alleged that workers and local residents lack access to clean drinking water, educational and healthcare services, and properly equipped rescue centers.

According to the statement, mine inspectors are responsible for conducting regular inspections of coal mines, identifying hazardous gases and explosive materials, and assessing structural conditions to help prevent such accidents.

PkMAP demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident and called for strict action against all those found responsible for negligence. It said those accountable should receive appropriate punishment to help prevent similar fatal incidents in the future.

The party also urged the government to immediately provide financial assistance to the families of the miners who lost their lives in the tragedy and once again expressed heartfelt condolences while praying for patience and strength for the bereaved families.
