25-Year-Old Owner of Wafflix Found Dead After Alleged Kidnapping in Karachi

KARACHI: Mir Raza Ali, the 25-year-old owner of the popular waffle chain Wafflix, who was allegedly kidnapped from Karachi’s PECHS area, has been found dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Preliminary evidence suggests that he was subjected to torture before being shot dead. Police have launched an investigation from multiple angles into the incident.

According to police, Mir Raza Ali was a resident of PECHS Block-2 and owned the well-known Wafflix outlet located near Bahadurabad Chowrangi. His body was recovered from bushes near Shadi Qila Marriage Hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-1 and was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities and a post-mortem examination.

Investigators said the body appeared to be one to two days old and bore burn marks on various parts, making identification difficult. The victim was later identified by his father, Mir Hassan Ali, through his clothing. Police further stated that there was a prominent mark on his back. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is completed.

SHO Ferozabad Kamran Qureshi said that an FIR for kidnapping had been registered at Ferozabad Police Station on Tuesday on the complaint of the victim’s father. Preliminary investigations indicate that Mir Raza Ali may have been tortured before being shot dead. Police have begun collecting CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas to trace the suspects and determine their movements.

According to family members, Mir Raza Ali returned home from his business during the night between July 27 and 28 and informed his mother at around 4 a.m. that he was stepping out for ten minutes. However, he never returned. When relatives attempted to contact him, his mobile phone was found switched off. After unsuccessful efforts to locate him, the family contacted the emergency helpline and subsequently registered a case against unidentified persons.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and all available evidence is being examined to identify and apprehend those responsible. The circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s alleged kidnapping and murder will become clearer once forensic and post-mortem reports are received.
