Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Voices Concern Over Electoral Irregularities in AJK, Urges Immediate Action by Election Commission

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader and former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has expressed concern over alleged electoral irregularities in various constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), calling on the Election Commission to take immediate and impartial action.

In a statement, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said reports of disruptions to the electoral process at Polling Stations 15 to 25 in the Gul Pur, Tharochi, and Muhajir Camp areas of the Chadhroi constituency were deeply concerning.

He urged the Election Commission to immediately investigate the situation at the affected polling stations and ensure that polling is conducted in a transparent and fair manner.

Ashraf also called for the deployment of additional security personnel at the polling stations in Gul Pur, Tharochi, and Muhajir Camp, emphasizing that voters must be provided with a safe and secure environment to exercise their democratic right without fear or intimidation.

The PPP leader stressed that interference in the electoral process and acts of disorder are unacceptable under any circumstances. He urged the Election Commission to ensure that the elections remain peaceful, impartial, and transparent throughout the polling process.

He further demanded that all complaints be addressed promptly and impartially and called for immediate action against anyone found violating the electoral code of conduct.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf concluded by saying that free, fair, and transparent elections are the cornerstone of public trust and are essential for upholding democratic values in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
