Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory Declares Two Auto-Disable Syringe Samples Substandard
KARACHI:** The Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory (SDTL) has declared two samples of auto-disable syringes substandard after they failed to meet the required quality standards during testing.
According to an SDTL report, samples of **5ml** and **3ml** auto-disable syringes did not comply with the standards prescribed under the **Medical Devices Rules 2017**.
The report stated that both syringe samples, manufactured by a pharmaceutical company based in **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa**, were classified as substandard following laboratory analysis.
SDTL Director General Adnan Rizvi said the syringes failed the **auto-disable** and **reuse prevention** feature tests. He added that the automatic safety mechanism did not function effectively, raising concerns that the defective syringes could pose a risk to the safe administration of injections.
The laboratory has forwarded its test reports to the **Inspector of Drugs Karachi East** and the **Secretary of the Quality Control Board** for further regulatory action.
