Trump Rejects Claims of US Ammunition Shortages Amid Iran Tensions
US President Donald Trump has dismissed reports suggesting that the United States is rapidly depleting its stockpiles of weapons and air defense missiles amid ongoing tensions with Iran.
Speaking to *The Wall Street Journal*, Trump said the United States possesses more ammunition than any other country in the world and that its military stockpiles are more than sufficient. He rejected concerns circulating about America’s defense capabilities, describing them as unfounded.
Trump’s remarks came after *The New York Times* reported that during high-level administration meetings, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine warned that a wider military campaign against Iran could place significant pressure on US interceptor missile inventories used in air defense systems.
According to the report, some US military officials expressed concern that interceptor missiles for Patriot and other air defense systems could become limited if the conflict intensifies, potentially affecting future military operations.
Meanwhile, *The Wall Street Journal* quoted US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper as saying that American forces remain fully capable of carrying out their missions with the defensive resources currently available.
The report added that the US military’s current strategy focuses on targeting Iran’s missile-launch capabilities at an early stage to reduce the risk of large-scale missile attacks. Any decision to expand military operations, however, would ultimately require approval from President Donald Trump.
Defense analysts say the ongoing debate over US military stockpiles, air defense systems, and operational planning highlights that Washington continues to evaluate a range of military options as tensions with Iran persist.
