Electricity Distribution Companies Apply for Price Hike: Impact on K-Electric Customers Expected
Islamabad: Electricity distribution companies have submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the recovery of Rs. 8.71 billion from consumers. The application was filed for adjustments in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
The request includes Rs. 8.06 billion for capacity charges, Rs. 1.25 billion for the operations and maintenance of the distribution companies (DISCOs), and Rs. 1.65 billion for system charges and market operation fees.
According to NEPRA documents, the companies have reported a savings of Rs. 2.25 billion due to reduced transmission and distribution losses.
If approved, the hike will also apply to K-Electric customers, impacting electricity bills nationwide.
