Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Alleges Indian Involvement in Terrorism in Pakistan, Urges Afghanistan to Prevent Cross-Border Militant Activity
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has alleged that India is involved in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan by providing resources to militant groups and urged the Afghan interim government to prevent its territory from being used against Pakistan.
Addressing participants of the Balochistan National Workshop in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said Pakistan has repeatedly conveyed its concerns to Afghanistan regarding the presence and activities of terrorist groups. He asserted that the Afghan interim government has failed to effectively curb terrorism and called upon Kabul to ensure that Afghan soil is not used for attacks against Pakistan.
“The role of India in terrorist activities is evident. It is providing resources to terrorists,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, adding that several other factors are also contributing to the security challenges faced by Pakistan.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens in the fight against terrorism. He stated that approximately 90,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in the country’s decades-long struggle against militancy.
He emphasized that the sacrifices in the war against terrorism have not been limited to civilians alone but have also included members of Pakistan’s military and law enforcement institutions who continue to serve on the front lines.
Speaking about Balochistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described it as Pakistan’s largest province by area and acknowledged the contributions of the Baloch and Pashtun communities to the country’s creation and development. He said Pakistan cannot achieve sustainable progress unless all four provinces participate equally in the nation’s development.
The Prime Minister pledged that the federal government would spare no effort in accelerating Balochistan’s development and ensuring that its people fully benefit from economic progress and national initiatives.
Prime Minister Condemns Terrorist Attack in Kohat
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on excise officials in Kohat. He expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Sub-Inspector Sajjad-ul-Islam and Customs Constable Jawad and extended his condolences to their families while praying for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
The Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to identify those responsible and ensure that they are brought to justice. He reiterated the government’s resolve to continue the fight against terrorism until it is completely eradicated from the country.
“We will not allow miscreants to undermine Pakistan’s peace under any circumstances,” he said, reaffirming the state’s commitment to maintaining national security and public safety.
