: Maryam Riaz Wattoo Claims Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Have Lost Vision in One Eye Each, Raises Concerns Over Jail Conditions

LAHORE: Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister of Bushra Bibi, has made a series of allegations regarding the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, claiming that both have lost vision in one eye while also raising concerns about the conditions of their confinement.

Speaking on ARY News’ program Eleventh Hour, Wattoo alleged that Imran Khan can see only 15 percent with his remaining eyesight and has lost 85 percent of his vision. She further claimed that Bushra Bibi suffered a retinal tear and that medical attention was not provided for ten days. According to her, Bushra Bibi also underwent laser treatment for complications in her other eye.

Wattoo said that Bushra Bibi personally informed her about the alleged difficulties she has faced in prison. She claimed that rainwater causes electrical faults inside the prison cell and that Bushra Bibi has suffered electric shocks on two occasions. She alleged that prison authorities later provided her with a wooden spoon to use while operating electrical switches.

She also alleged that an uncovered sewer opening inside Bushra Bibi’s cell allows rats to enter the room and claimed that rats had fallen on her while she was offering prayers.

In addition to the allegations concerning prison conditions, Maryam Riaz Wattoo commented on internal matters relating to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). She claimed that Imran Khan had believed Sohail Afridi lacked sufficient experience for his position and had directed that Taimur Jhagra be appointed Deputy Chief Minister to provide guidance. According to Wattoo, those instructions have yet to be implemented.

The claims made by Maryam Riaz Wattoo have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate official response from the relevant authorities regarding the allegations about the health of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi or the conditions of their confinement.
