DG ISPR Labels PTI Founder a ‘Mental Patient’, Terms Him a National Security Threat

Islamabad: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has declared PTI founder Imran Khan a “mental patient,” stating that he has become an internal national security threat.

Addressing a press conference, the DG ISPR said the purpose of the briefing was to highlight an internal threat faced by Pakistan. He stated that according to the “logic of this mental patient,” if India were to attack, he would respond by begging for dialogue. He added that the PTI founder is imprisoned by his ego and believes “if not me, then nothing.”

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif said the PTI founder’s statements and tweets were being amplified by Indian media and social media accounts, which, he said, indicates a coordinated effort. He pointed out that certain individuals, including Uzma Khan, were appearing on Indian media encouraging attacks on PTI’s behalf.

The DG ISPR noted that the PTI founder recently issued another tweet building an anti-state narrative. “This person considers only himself important; not Pakistan. He has now become a national security threat and is working with external elements,” he added.

He questioned how political leaders could meet a convicted person who then uses those meetings to craft narratives against Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership. He said the PTI founder had previously encouraged halting remittances to push Pakistan toward default.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif stressed that the armed forces do not represent any political or religious ideology, and no one will be allowed to provoke the public against the military. “We come from the middle and lower-middle classes. We will not tolerate attacks on our institutions or leadership,” he said.

He reiterated that Pakistan’s military stands solely for the state and its constitution. “His personal ambitions have grown to the extent that he says, ‘If not me, then nothing.’ Politics is now over; his narrative has become a national security threat,” he concluded.
