Government’s Writ Has Collapsed After Mastung Tragedy, Provincial Government Should Resign Immediately, Says Senator Kamran Murtaza

QUETTA: President of Jamiat Lawyers Forum Pakistan and Senator Kamran Murtaza Advocate has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on judicial officers on the Mastung National Highway, which resulted in the martyrdom of a Sessions Judge and his gunman and left two others, including a Judicial Magistrate, seriously injured. He described the incident as a clear reflection of the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Senator Kamran Murtaza said the prevailing security situation in the country is a matter of grave concern for every citizen. He alleged that instead of protecting the lives and property of the people, eliminating terrorism, and ensuring public safety, the government and state institutions are preoccupied with character assassination of “Maulana Sahib.” He said such priorities have sidelined public issues and raised serious questions about the state’s governance and priorities.
The senator stated that the broad daylight attack on respected judicial officers on a national highway is a serious question mark over the writ of the state. He maintained that when ordinary citizens, government officials, and members of the judiciary are not safe, it is clear evidence that the provincial government has failed to maintain law and order.
Kamran Murtaza claimed that the government’s writ has effectively collapsed and that the people are living in an atmosphere of insecurity. Under such circumstances, he said, it is the constitutional, legal, and moral responsibility of the provincial government to acknowledge its failure and resign immediately.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred Sessions Judge and his security guard, prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, and wished patience and strength for their loved ones. He also prayed for the swift and complete recovery of the injured Judicial Magistrate and other victims of the attack.
Concluding his statement, Senator Kamran Murtaza demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack and called for them to be brought to justice without delay. He also urged the authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation and to take effective practical measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future so that public confidence in state institutions can be restored.
