US Intensifies Military Campaign Against Iran, Launches New Airstrikes and Expands Middle East Deployment
The United States has intensified its military campaign against Iran, carrying out a new wave of airstrikes on Iranian military targets for the 12th consecutive day while deploying additional troops, advanced military equipment, and medical personnel to the Middle East.
According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest operation began at 5:30 p.m. (U.S. time) on Wednesday following orders from President Donald Trump. CENTCOM said the strikes were aimed at further reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian maritime traffic along key regional sea routes.
Local media reported that an area near the Shalamcheh border crossing between Iran and Iraq was targeted in the attack. Images of the strike have been circulated, although no official details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage have been released.
Meanwhile, *The Wall Street Journal*, citing informed sources, reported that the White House is considering expanding military operations against Iran. As part of these preparations, the United States has begun sending additional troops, special operations forces, medical personnel, and advanced weaponry to the Middle East.
The report also stated that U.S. special operations forces have already arrived in the region, while fighter jets have been deployed at multiple locations across the Middle East. In addition, bomber aircraft stationed at air bases in the United States and the United Kingdom have been placed on high alert for possible rapid deployment.
Separately, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2027, allocating a record **$1.15 trillion** for defense spending. The bill passed by a vote of **216 to 212**. Although Democratic lawmakers raised concerns over the massive defense budget, escalating tensions with Iran, and provisions strengthening Pentagon cooperation with Israel, the legislation secured approval with the backing of the Republican majority.
