PM Shehbaz Meets Iranian Interior Minister, Discusses Regional Situation and Bilateral Ties

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Islamabad to discuss the regional security situation and ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran.
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the recent tensions in the Gulf and urged all parties to exercise restraint. He stressed the importance of avoiding any actions that could further destabilize the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, saying the country would continue to play its role as a sincere mediator and facilitator in efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation.
During the meeting, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni conveyed the Iranian leadership’s goodwill and best wishes to the Prime Minister. He said he was leading a high-level delegation to Pakistan with the aim of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The statement added that the Iranian minister appreciated the mediation efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which he said contributed to the conclusion of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The Iranian Interior Minister also thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
