Social Media Activist Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan Files for Khula as Husband Issues First Divorce

LAHORE:** Social media activist **Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan** has filed a petition for *khula* (judicial dissolution of marriage) in a Lahore Family Court, alleging serious misconduct and abuse by her husband, **Haris Hameed Khokhar**.
According to the petition, Dr. Nabiha claimed that her husband subjected her to inappropriate and inhumane treatment, including alleged physical abuse and behavior that made it impossible for the marriage to continue. She requested the court to grant a decree of *khula*.
Reports indicate that shortly after the petition was filed, Haris Hameed Khokhar issued a formal legal divorce notice, pronouncing the **first talaq**.

In the divorce document, Khokhar stated that the couple had married on **November 7, 2025**, with a *mehr* of **Rs100,000** paid at the time of the marriage. He said the couple initially lived together happily, but their relationship later deteriorated despite efforts to resolve their differences.
The divorce notice states that Khokhar, acting of his own free will, declared that it was no longer possible for the couple to live together and therefore pronounced the first divorce, releasing his wife from the marital relationship. The document further states that, following the completion of the prescribed waiting period (*iddat*), Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan would be free to remarry, and that there were no outstanding financial claims between the two parties.
