Lahore: A traditional Pakistani swimming hack has captured international attention after a viral social media video showed foreigners using inflated shalwars as makeshift flotation devices.

For decades, people in Pakistan’s villages and towns have improvised by tying or sealing the legs of a shalwar and filling it with air to create a buoyant float when swimming in canals without access to tubes or life jackets.
