JUI-F’s Abdul Ghafoor Haideri Demands Interior Minister’s Resignation Over Security Situation

QUETTA: Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the central secretary general of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F), has called on Pakistan’s federal interior minister to resign, saying he should accept moral responsibility for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

In a statement, Haideri said the interior minister had previously claimed that the security situation in Balochistan could be handled with the authority of a single station house officer (SHO), but recent developments had proved that assertion wrong.

Referring to the recent Ziarat incident, Haideri said that 29 police personnel, including two SHOs, were killed. He also noted that a curfew has remained in place in Zehri for the past nine months, while Khuzdar continues to face serious security challenges.

Haideri reiterated JUI-F’s longstanding position that the use of force is not a solution to the security issues in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said lasting peace can only be achieved through serious political dialogue and meaningful negotiations.

He urged the federal interior minister to accept moral responsibility for the prevailing security situation and step down from his position.
