Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Blames ‘Negligence’ for Ziarat Attack, Demands Recovery of Missing Police Personnel

Quetta: Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party has strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack in the Kuch Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat, expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of nine police personnel and alleging that the incident resulted from official negligence, administrative failures, and inadequate security planning.

In a statement issued from the party’s central secretariat, the PkNAP described the attack as a tragic consequence of what it called state incompetence, government indifference, and the failure of the relevant security institutions.

The party also expressed serious concern over reports that around 20 police personnel remain missing following the attack and demanded their immediate and safe recovery.

According to the statement, deploying police officers to a highly sensitive area without modern weapons, armored vehicles, an effective communication system, and timely ground and air support reflected what the party termed “criminal negligence” rather than an accidental oversight.

The statement claimed that the police personnel remained surrounded by militants for several hours and alleged that despite repeated warnings and appeals from party leaders and local elders to senior civil and military authorities, no timely action was taken. It argued that prompt intervention could have prevented the loss of lives.

The party also questioned the performance of the Deputy Commissioner of Ziarat, the district administration, and the senior police leadership, asking why the rescue operation was delayed while the officers were under attack.

It further expressed concern over the role of the Frontier Corps, questioning why the force did not launch what it described as a timely and decisive response while another state security force was under siege. The party said the matter should be included in any official investigation.

Referring to the Ziarat incident as a continuation of the recent terrorist attack in Hanna Urak, the party claimed that despite an ongoing public sit-in in Quetta, the government had failed to take effective measures to prevent terrorism or ensure public safety.

The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party called for a high-level, independent, and transparent judicial inquiry into the incident. It demanded that all officials found responsible for delays or negligence, including the Deputy Commissioner of Ziarat if warranted by the investigation, be identified and held accountable under the law.

The statement concluded by paying tribute to the slain police personnel, expressing condolences to their families, and reaffirming the party’s commitment to raising its voice through democratic and political forums against what it described as state negligence and policies that undermine public security.
