Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has declared the physical remand order for Azam Swati invalid. Justice Hassan Orangi Zeeb expressed regret over his previous day’s anger, stating, “My anger yesterday was not justified; I am sorry. The judge was not before us, and I should not have reacted this way. We cannot express what we want to write in the decision in court.”
According to a report by Geo News, the hearing was held regarding the case challenging Swati’s physical remand after judicial hours. Lawyer Ali Bukhari noted that a list was submitted in the High Court on October 11 indicating that there are 12 cases against Swati, and details of one FIR were intentionally concealed.
Justice Hassan Orangi Zeeb inquired whether the prosecution intended to request further physical remand for Swati. The Prosecutor General of Islamabad stated that he could not comment on that at the moment.
Justice Arbab Tahir asked if Swati was now detained in all cases. The Prosecutor General confirmed that all remands had been completed, and he was indeed in custody for all cases.
Justice Hassan Orangi Zeeb remarked that one remand had already occurred, and upon its expiration, a second remand was sought, questioning how a remand could be requested for a case from October 5 without appropriate justification.
The Islamabad High Court expressed satisfaction with the report submitted by Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain. Justice Orangi Zeeb reiterated his regret about his earlier outburst, emphasizing that the judge was not present, and such a reaction was inappropriate.
Ultimately, the Islamabad High Court annulled the order for Azam Swati’s physical remand.
