Reported Armed Attack in Hanna Urak Leaves Five Injured; Manzoor Kakar Criticizes Government Response

QUETTA: At least five people were reportedly injured in an armed attack in the Hanna Urak area of Quetta on Sunday evening, according to local sources, as tensions remained high in the area.

Local reports alleged that armed men linked to the banned militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) carried out the attack. However, authorities had not officially confirmed the identity of the attackers or the circumstances surrounding the incident at the time of reporting.

According to local sources, the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, although no official update on their condition has been released.

Residents claimed that following the attack, locals were forced to defend their neighborhoods due to what they described as an inadequate presence of police and other law enforcement agencies. They said clashes continued for several hours after the attack, creating fear and uncertainty among families in the area.

Reacting to the incident, Manzoor Kakar criticized the government’s handling of the security situation. In a statement, he alleged that citizens had been left at the mercy of militants and questioned the state’s ability to maintain law and order.

The senator said that if residents are compelled to take up arms to protect their lives and property, it raises serious concerns about the government’s responsibility to ensure public safety. He called on the authorities to immediately deploy security forces to the affected area, provide the best possible medical treatment to those injured, and take decisive action against those responsible for the attack.

As of the latest reports, no official statement had been issued by government authorities regarding the incident. Details about the nature of the attack, the number of attackers, and the full extent of the damage remain unconfirmed. The reported involvement of the banned group and other details cited above are based on local sources and eyewitness accounts and have not been independently verified.
