PkMAP Warns of Protest Movement Over Security, Forced Displacement, and Utility Issues in Quetta

Quetta: The district committee of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Quetta, alleging that citizens have been left at the mercy of criminal elements and warning of a large-scale protest movement if the government fails to address public security and civic issues.

The party’s district committee meeting was chaired by Provincial President Nasrullah Khan Zarey and attended by senior party leaders, office-bearers, regional secretaries, and other officials. Participants reviewed organizational and political activities across Quetta district and discussed the province’s security and governance challenges.

In a statement issued after the meeting, PkMAP claimed that incidents of kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, theft, highway crime, and other criminal activities had increased significantly in Quetta and surrounding areas. The party alleged that the government and relevant state institutions had failed to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, citing recent incidents, including those reported in the Hanna Urak area, as evidence of the worsening security situation.

The party also condemned what it described as the forced displacement of residents from Mangla, calling the move an anti-public policy. It said it would oppose any attempt to remove communities from their ancestral lands or compel relocation without the consent of local residents, arguing that such actions violate constitutional and human rights.

PkMAP further criticized the continued closure of the Randozai Police Station in Nawan Killi, claiming the area had effectively been left vulnerable to criminal groups for several months. It urged authorities to reopen the police station immediately and strengthen security patrols in the locality.

The meeting also criticized prolonged unannounced electricity load-shedding in Quetta, accusing the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) of poor management. The party said frequent power outages during the summer, along with unannounced gas load-shedding, had created serious hardships for households, businesses, and industries.

In addition, PkMAP highlighted several civic issues, including inadequate sanitation, overflowing garbage, a deteriorating sewerage system, shortages of clean drinking water, and other deficiencies in municipal services, accusing the relevant authorities of neglecting their responsibilities.

The party warned that if the federal and provincial governments failed to take immediate and practical steps to improve security, curb crime, and resolve problems related to electricity, gas, water supply, sanitation, and other essential public services, it would launch a phased protest campaign in coordination with traders, students, lawyers, workers, women, and other segments of society.

The statement reflects the position of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party. Government authorities had not publicly responded to the party’s allegations and demands at the time of reporting.
