KP Lawmaker Forces Feeders On at Bannu Grid Station, Causes Widespread Power Outage

Bannu: A member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly allegedly entered a Peshawar Electric Supply Company 132 kV grid station in Bannu and forcibly switched on all electricity feeders, according to a PESCO spokesperson.
The spokesperson said the unauthorized activation of the feeders caused the system to become overloaded, resulting in the suspension of power supply from the Bannu grid station.
As a consequence, large parts of Bannu were left without electricity and many areas were plunged into darkness.
PESCO identified the lawmaker as Malik Rahat and said legal action would be initiated against him. The spokesperson added that, on the instructions of the PESCO chief, technical staff had begun repair work at the grid station to restore electricity supply.
The incident has raised concerns over interference in power infrastructure operations and the potential risks posed to the electricity distribution system.
