PCB Approves Higher Match Fees for Pakistan Cricketers, Increases Domestic Cricket Budget

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved an increase in match fees for national team players and significantly expanded funding for domestic cricket as part of its surplus budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.

The decisions were made during a meeting of the PCB Board of Governors chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The board unanimously approved the surplus budget and endorsed a series of financial and administrative reforms aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s cricket structure.

Among the key decisions, the board approved making the Pakistan Super League (PSL) administratively and financially autonomous and also sanctioned the budget for the 12th edition of the tournament.

The budget for domestic cricket was increased from Rs3 billion to Rs4 billion, reflecting the board’s commitment to improving the country’s cricket infrastructure and player development.

The Board of Governors also approved a new central contract structure, revised payment mechanism, and higher match fees for national team players.

According to sources, players representing Pakistan in Test cricket will receive **Rs1.5 million per match**, while ODI players will earn **Rs650,000** per match and T20 International players **Rs450,000** per match.

Under the new category-based structure, players in Category A who play Test cricket will receive **Rs1.5 million** per Test, **Rs750,000** per ODI, and **Rs650,000** per T20I. Category B players will receive **Rs750,000** per ODI and **Rs500,000** per T20I.

Category C players, who are expected to feature primarily in T20 Internationals, will receive **Rs500,000** per match. If a Category C player is selected for an ODI, the match fee will remain **Rs500,000**.

The PCB also approved a substantial increase in domestic cricket payments. Match fees for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy players were raised from **Rs30,000** to **Rs100,000**, while reserve players’ fees increased from **Rs15,000** to **Rs50,000** per match.

In addition, the board approved funding for Women’s One-Day and T20 tournaments and raised the minimum salary for regional ground staff to **Rs42,000** per month.

To enhance cricket infrastructure, the PCB allocated **Rs6.7 billion** for the operationalization of 12 additional grounds and the upgrading of facilities, including the National Stadium. The board also approved funding for the installation of a biomechanics machine at the High Performance Centre in Lahore to support player performance and sports science initiatives.
