PkMAP Condemns Ziarat Attack, Says Terrorism Aims to Destroy Tourism and Livelihoods

QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Ziarat district that reportedly left one member of the Tablighi Jamaat dead, another injured, and several police personnel wounded.

In a statement issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, PkMAP expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.

The party alleged that the assault on Ziarat, a popular tourist and recreational destination, was an attack on the livelihoods of local residents who depend on tourism for their income. It claimed that such incidents were part of a deliberate attempt to create insecurity, discourage tourism, and deprive people of their means of earning a living.

PkMAP also alleged that incidents of enforced disappearances and lawlessness continued in the province, describing the situation as unacceptable.

The statement said the wave of terrorism and insecurity across Balochistan was worsening and accused the provincial government of failing to maintain law and order. It noted that despite the presence of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel at key locations, mountain passes, and highways, peace had not been restored.

The party further argued that lasting stability required political reforms, calling for the end of what it described as a government imposed through “Form 47,” and demanding fresh, free, fair, and transparent elections so that power could be transferred to genuinely elected public representatives.

PkMAP also urged the authorities to take effective measures to eliminate terrorist elements and restore security in Ziarat, stressing the need to protect both residents and visitors to one of Balochistan’s leading tourist destinations.
